November 2013 Monthly Letter

No longer will CDC Commercial stand idly by as the status quo is preserved. Revolutions are sweeping the Middle East, technology is changing human communications, and particle accelerators are redefining our knowledge of the very building blocks of the universe. It is time to throw off the chains of the past and declare to the world… We have redone our website! Check it out at

www.CDCCommercial.com

cdccommercial.com

Besides being clean, new and pretty pictures, the site is viewable on all platforms and scales perfectly for phone, table or desktop. What I am most excited about though is the live data that is interactive. Nobody in the market place is offering this. Now you can view vacancy and create your own charts to see average asking rents or sale prices in your properties city, region or state. There are also live news feeds to keep you up to date with market news. And don’t worry there is more to come that will keep you coming back more and more. I have to give a shout-out of thanksgiving to our web developer Josh@perceptionmobile.com for all his efforts to make us modern! All I can tell you is we’ve got a lot better site than the government health care ones!

Speaking of government, I am still trying to figure out why we are spending $100 billion a year for “now essential” government services. When we are $17 trillion in debt. It is pretty sad that despite nearly 0% interest rates that we are still not below 6.5% unemployment nor above 2% inflation rate. The dysfunction in Washington (and Sacramento) has quite simply been a tax on growth.

Locally and within CDC we see numbers creeping up. The USD Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate Index of Leading Economic Indicators for San Diego County rose .4 percent in August. This is the 12th straight gain and 21st in 22 months. Close to home the number of inbound calls at CDC has increased and is approaching pre-2009 levels. Hopefully, this converts  to more deals and dollars for all of us.

Besides being thankful for our new website (and its ability to give you greater insight to the market), I have to say I am thankful for the whole team at CDC. We have all made it through some difficult and dark times and we can finally see the sun rising on the other side. It may not always feel that way  but each recent year has been better than the last. I am especially thankful for the recognition that the San Diego Business Journal shined on me and the CDC Team.

Of course none of this would be possible if it weren’t for the great relationship we have with you, our clients, owners, users and vendors of commercial real estate. Don’t spend your whole Thanksgiving vacation doing research on our new website – take some time for family, friends and food… and share and enjoy this month’s story.

Twas the Night of Thanksgiving

I just couldn’t sleep,
I tried counting backwards,
I tried counting sheep.

The leftovers beckoned –
The dark meat and white
But I fought the temptation
With all of my might.

Tossing and turning with anticipation
The thought of a snack became infatuation.
So, I raced to the kitchen,
Flung open the door,
And gazed at the fridge,
Full of goodies galore.

I gobbled up turkey and buttered potatoes,
Pickles and carrots,
Beans and tomatoes.

I felt myself swelling,
So plump and round,
‘Til all of a sudden,
I rose off the ground.

I crashed through the ceiling,
Floating into the sky,
With a mouthful of pudding,
And a handful of pie.

But, I managed to yell as
I soared past the trees…
Happy eating to all
Pass the cranberries, please.

May your stuffing be tasty, may your turkey be plump.
May your potatoes ‘N gravy have nary a lump,
May your yams be delicious, may your pies take the prize,
May your Thanksgiving dinner stay off your thighs.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
